THE FRIENDS OF MISSOURI TOWN 1855
Missouri Town 1855 is owned and operated by Jackson County Parks + Rec and is located near Lake Jacomo in Fleming Park.
Nestled together on some thirty sloping acres, the homes, farms and businesses depict what a typical
mid-nineteenth century Missouri community would have looked like.
The buildings date largely from the 1820s through the 1850s. Threatened by demolition and neglect in later years, each building was painstakingly dismantled, moved from its original location and reassembled to form Missouri Town 1855.
Dressed in 1850s attire, staff and volunteers engage in activities to complement their period surroundings. From holiday celebrations to daily tasks, Missouri Town 1855 brings the past to life again.
Jackson County Parks + Rec’s Historic Sites Division is dedicated to educating and entertaining the public about Missouri’s proud heritage.
New programs are continually being created to provide visitors with a fresh and stimulating selection of special festivals, reenactments and heritage workshops.
